Father Larry's Letters

"Father Larry's Letters" are a weekly letter/journal about the many events occurring within and around the St. Luke's community.

Is Spring Really Here?

Dear St. Luke’s Parishioners,

This will be a short letter because I will be going to the Good Leaders, Good Shepherds Institute Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this last week and so it needs to be sent to the bulletin editor sooner rather than later.

The Second Week of Lent and our 2nd mass for St. Luke’s went very well. Thank you to all of  you who helped get things set up and put back, to the various Liturgical Ministers and our several musicians, to those who served the coffee and rolls and to those helping with extra chairs and  hospitality. Your efforts are very much appreciated. Our parish numbers keep growing. We now have over 90 registered families in St. Luke’s.

This coming week, the Lenten schedule returns with weekday masses at St. Anne’s  2110 W. 1st Street on Tuesday 7:45 am, Wednesday 7:45 am, Thursday 5:30 pm and Friday 7:45 am. We will have Stations of the Cross 5:30 pm on Friday and Reconciliation on Saturday 9 – 10:00 am at St. Anne’s. I am looking forward to our Third Sunday of Lent mass on March 27.

Word was received that Msgr. Jerry Ryan  former pastor of St. Mary’s died early Monday morning. Some of you may have known him from the days he had been pastor of All Saints parish as well as in his time at St. Mary’s. Keep him in your prayers.

I have received confirmation that Bishop Pates will come to St. Luke’s to install me as the pastor on Sunday April 10, 9:00 am at our Mass at Ashland Ridge. I don’t know that I have ever been installed as a pastor. It should be a good experience for me and all of you as well.

Enjoy the week. Spring is here!

Peace, Fr. Larry
