Father Larry's Letters

"Father Larry's Letters" are a weekly letter/journal about the many events occurring within and around the St. Luke's community.

We Have An Architect!

Our St. Luke’s Family:

As we have just celebrated the feast days of St. Peter, the first Pope, and the First Martyrs of the See of Rome, we are excited to announce another “first” for the people of St. Luke the Evangelist.

The Strategic Planning Team has been working on many things over the past few months relating to our new campus, including (1) drafting a Charter (2) creating a Mission/Vision Statement, (3) solidifying Concepts and Values, (4) meeting with the Diocesan Building Committee, and (5) interviewing and reviewing proposals for the pre-design and design services for the St. Luke campus.

It is with great joy we announce the result of these initial efforts: the participation of Neumann-Monson Architects/BVH Architects to assist us in the construction of our future church, education center, and living center.

Please visit www.bvh.com and neumannmonson.com to review the outstanding work of these two respected firms. They have worked on some spectacular Catholic churches, including All Saints Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Hiawatha, and St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Iowa City. Their work on other projects is equally impressive.

This Fall, look forward to innovative workshops involving the Neumann-Monson Architects/BVH Architects to help our present and future parishioners build consensus on the site plan.

Just as Peter, the First Pope, and the First Martyrs of the Sea of Rome courageously spread the Good News of Christianity in a time of great adversity, please do not hesitate to spread the news with the surrounding Catholic community that this critical step has been accomplished and things are moving forward in a definite way. Also, please encourage Catholics within our designated boundaries to come join us in our journey towards building structures that will answer our prayers and realize all of our hopes and dreams.

Thank you and welcome Neumann-Monson Architects/BVH Architects!
