An Update On St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic School

While Fr. Larry is in Colorado, Tonya Eaton will give us an update on St. Luke the Evangelist’s Catholic School.

Dear St. Luke’s Family,

As time is flying by and the beginning of the school year will be upon us before we know it, I wanted to give you some updates on what is going on with the school.

The Department of Education visited St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic School on Friday, January 23, 2015 for our initial school accreditation visit. They were very pleased with what we have done and enjoyed visiting the church and school site. They look forward to coming back and visiting when it is finished. St. Luke’s will be presented to the State Board in May for accreditation.

Colors have been chosen for the classrooms, hallways, administrative area and gym. The construction continues on all the classrooms and it now looks more like a school than great big open space. The kitchen and gym areas are coming together as well.

Registration continues and we still have openings at every grade level. Please talk to your friends and family about the great school we are going to have. If they have any questions, please have them contact me at 964-1278 or tonya.eaton@saintluketheevangelistschool.org. If you know of potential families, please contact me and I would be happy to contact the family directly.

Jobs for teachers and support staff will be posted on Teach Iowa this upcoming week. If you know of any potential candidates, please tell them to go to www.teachiowa.gov. They can also contact me with any questions.

The school board, home and school, and marketing committees have all been busy working on tasks they need to complete. The Little Longhorns caroled at Penelope Apartments for Christmas and will be having various activities during the next few months to continue to build our community. The Little Longhorn parents had a “Silly Supper” this past week and fun was had by all who attended.

It is a busy time at St. Luke’s school and we are looking forward to the spring and moving into the building. I thank each of you for your time, talents and treasures that you are giving in order to make the school a reality!

Blessings,
Tonya Eaton, Principal
