Father Larry's Letters

"Father Larry's Letters" are a weekly letter/journal about the many events occurring within and around the St. Luke's community.

Growth by Sun, Rain and the Holy Spirit

Dear St. Luke’s Parishioners,

As I begin this letter, the warm south wind is building the temperature well above 70 degrees. The sun is out in glory but there are promises of many days of rain for this week. It will give all our growing things a needed drink. Thank you Lord.

On Tuesday, April 28, I spent the afternoon with my priests’ support group called Jesus Caritas. There we look at our month and try to identify a fact where God was present to share. That evening, I helped with the visitation and rosary for Lois Geneser. Her funeral was held at St. Anne’s the next day. May she rest in peace. Later that evening, the St. Luke’s School Board met for its regular meeting. We heard many reports from school progress from Tonya Eaton, our principal.

Wednesday evening, the Building Committee met at the rectory and received the update of our building progress. Drive by and see that most all of the trees are planted. The stone masons have finished the East face of our church. It is beautiful. The carpenters have installed most of the ceiling of our worship space and lights are being installed. When you drive by now, you get a good view of what our campus will look like - it looks great!

On Friday, I attended a meeting at the Emmaus House, a retreat and spiritual direction center near Methodist Hospital. They are anticipating building a new structure with more handicapped accessibility and space for more retreatants. They would be happy for any financial support you could give.

On Sunday, May 3, the Stewardship Committee held its meeting followed by our second Faith Formation Council meeting. May the Holy Spirit guide all our parish meetings and activities. May your families be blessed as we share the glory of the risen Lord.

Peace,
Fr. Larry Hoffmann
