Dear St. Luke’s Parishioners,
Most all of us have had a full time trying to survive the heat of 7/17-23! I hope that you have found ways to keep cool and safe.
Early the week of 7/11, I was still trying to catch up on all the email. Sometimes you just want to delete all of them. But, there are some that need to be acted on and so…
Thursday evening 7/14, the regular Parish Pastoral Council was held. After our prayer, we began the study of “Rebuilt” a story of a parish that worked to move from just maintenance to mission. We will study more about how this was done and what we can do to model after them. We discussed how to help with the Pictorial Directory pictures that will be taken August 16-24. We encourage every family to set up a time through our parish website. You will get a free picture, pictorial directory and an app with this directory for your phone. Let’s all work to be part of this effort. The council also discussed how the discernment of our three new members would take place with the information meeting that will be held on Wednesday August 10.
Friday evening and Saturday afternoon 7/15/16, I enjoyed celebrating the wedding of Brennan Santone and Mercades Nessa. Welcome Brennan and Mercades as our newest married couple at St. Luke’s.
On Monday evening, I enjoyed dinner at Mary Ann Willkinson’s home on the South side. She has an annual birthday dinner and makes the best pies!
Wednesday 7/20 the Facilities Committee held its regular meeting. Ongoing Warranty Items were reviewed. A grant for $4,500 from our Insurance company was discussed. Electronic locks for the exterior doors are being installed with a portion of this grant. Progress for the playground equipment was reviewed with some adjustments being made. Reports from the committees were received.
Thursday 7/21, the Finance Committee held its regular meeting. The main item on their agenda was to work on finalizing this year’s budget. Some concluding adjustments were made to be sent out for final vote. The year end Financial Report to the diocese was received that day and will be prepared for review for the next meeting.
Friday evening, I enjoyed preparing and hosting the St. Luke’s Auction dinner. Margaret Zacharias and her guests came to enjoy a cavatelli with Graziano’s sausage dinner at the rectory. It was a grand evening.
Saturday 7/23 after mass, a nice cupcake and lemonade hospitality time took place in the gym. Great cupcakes and nice sharing.
Sunday 7/24, we celebrated the baptisms of Bridget Jane, daughter of Austin and Kathy Lensch and Rebecca Karen, daughter of James and Jennifer Dunne at our 9:00 am mass. Welcome Bridget and Rebecca! After a nice baptism brunch, the regular Stewardship Committee meeting was held. They too are beginning the study of the book “Rebuilt.” Decisions for the month about the “Tithe of the Tithe” were made for helping charities outside the parish.
Keep all our vacationing families in your prayers for their safe travel. May all of you be blessed in these days of potential relaxation and re-creation.
