Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) is an internationally recognized program that nurtures the existing relationship between the child and God. Through tactile materials in the atrium, called 'works,' the child encounters quiet contemplation and the enjoyment of their relationship with God. We were excited to introduce the program at St. Luke's during the 2018-19 school year, and while we have to take year off, we intend to continue the program in the 2020-21 school year and beyond. See below for a full update. If you have questions or would like more information on CGS, please contact Alicia at

(August 2019)

Unfortunately we will not be able to offer CGS this year. Our school, by design, has expanded by a grade and now needs to utilize the room that housed our CGS atrium last year.

The original hope was that our building expansion might be completed in time to still be able to hold a CGS program this year, but with that project timeline extended and the rooms in the school hallway all full, it became unfeasible to house the program here this year. We considered holding a program off campus, but the logistics to make that happen were less than ideal, and the difficult decision was made to suspend the program for a year.

For this year, if you would like to enroll your student(s) in religious education at St. Luke’s, we have Wednesday evening classes available for kindergarten and higher. Session begin Wednesday, September 11, and online registration can be found at this link:

We hope to be able to offer CGS again next year at St. Luke’s, with the possible addition of higher levels for older students. We’re very excited about the growth of both the parish and St. Luke’s School, as well as the number of children we see regularly at weekend Masses. We receive many comments from out-of-town guests about what a young and lively parish we have!
