Pope's Statement - St. Michael's lent

Today the Pope issued a statement on the recent abuse scandals in the church. He is asking us to pray and fast. We at St. Luke's have taken up the call, and are inviting everyone to participate in something that is truly on the heart of the entire church. Please see the event invitation for participation in St. Michael's lent on our Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/events/288973071684576/, and also read the words of the Holy Father below:

"Together with those efforts, every one of the baptized should feel involved in the ecclesial and social change that we so greatly need. This change calls for a personal and communal conversion that makes us see things as the Lord does. For as Saint John Paul II liked to say: “If we have truly started out anew from the contemplation of Christ, we must learn to see him especially in the faces of those with whom he wished to be identified” (Novo Millennio Ineunte, 49). To see things as the Lord does, to be where the Lord wants us to be, to experience a conversion of heart in his presence. To do so, prayer and penance will help. I invite the entire holy faithful People of God to a penitential exercise of prayer and fasting, following the Lord’s command.[1] This can awaken our conscience and arouse our solidarity and commitment to a culture of care that says “never again” to every form of abuse."

We are hoping to bring Christlife to St. Luke's.  Please consider supporting our initiative by participating in the Fast Five Trivia events.  Thanks in advance!

Knights Help Agape Pregnancy Center

Click on image above to enlarge it.

On Friday, September 7th at Noon, Paul Moritz and Bruce Mehlhop delivered contributions from the fundraiser that the Knights Culture of Life Committee sponsored for the Agape Pregnancy Center. Thanks to the generosity of our parish, they delivered more than 16 cases of diapers and enough in monetary contributions to allow Agape to purchase 26 car seats that will be distributed to new parents who would otherwise not be able to afford one. According to Stacy Terill from Agape, each case of diapers will be divided up and distributed to approximately 10 families, so the diaper contribution alone will touch more than 160 families, in addition to the 26 families who will receive the car seats.

Enrollment is now open for the 2018-19 season of Religious Education which begins on September 12. If you can be a catechist this year (and we need you!), contact Pete at pete@slte.org before registering your children to receive a fee waiver code.

You can register your students by following this link: https://campscui.active.com/orgs/StLuketheEvangelist

Please note: at the Check-Out stage of the registration process you will have an option to “Protect Your Registration” for an additional fee – please do NOT choose this, it is not necessary!

See specific notes about the registration on our Religious Education page. We are looking forward to another great year of Religious Education at St. Luke the Evangelist!
