St. Luke's Helps the Community & World

The Lord said to Moses: Speak to the Levites and say to them: When you take from the Israelites the tithes I have assigned you from them as your heritage, you are to make a contribution from them to the Lord, a tithe of the tithe.

(Numbers 18:25-26)

Stewardship and helping God's people is an important priority of St. Luke's. Each month, St. Luke's takes a percentage of parishioner tithing and donates it to charities and those in need in our community and world. This is called "Tithe of the Tithe". The Social Concerns Team makes these decisions based on activities, special collections and requests at our parish. St. Luke's has "reverse collections" regularly. Parishioners are called upon to donate winter clothing, Christmas gifts, school supplies and other items for needy families. But you may not have known that a portion of the money you put in the weekly collection baskets and your tithing reaches the world!
