Confirmation

Students begin Confirmation prep in 9th grade and are Confirmed in their 10th-grade year or older after having completed two years of Confirmation prep. In order to prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation:

• Parents and Confirmation sponsors should attend the Parent/Sponsor Meeting on Monday, October 23rd, at 6:30 pm.

• Students are to complete two years of Confirmation prep.

• Students are to participate in the prescribed service activities in three categories: family, parish, and community.

• Students are to attend the Confirmation Retreat during their second year of Confirmation prep. See the calendar for details.

• Students are to attend Mass every Sunday and on holy days of obligation.

• Students are to celebrate the sacrament of Reconciliation.

The following forms are to be downloaded, completed, and handed in to David Reising by the due dates set in the link above.

• A copy of the candidate’s (student’s) baptismal certificate.

• Confirmation Information Request Sheet

• Sponsor Information Sheet

• Candidate Commitment Form

• Candidate-Sponsor Conversations (to be completed by the sponsor)

• Confirmation Evaluation and Recommendation Form (to be completed by the sponsors of those to be confirmed this year)

• Service Hour Report Sheet

• Confirmation Saint Form

• Letter to the Bishop (instructions are included in this template)

Service Hour Opportunities

• October 14th - Volunteer to help with Oxtoberfest

• November 11th - Gather things to be donated to St. Vincent de Paul and drop them off on the 11th. The St. Vincent de Paul truck will be at St. Luke’s from 10am to 4pm.

• November 14th - Sign up for an hour slot to help with Meals from the Heartlands. There are two main time slots to choose from 3:30-4:30 and 4:30-5:30. Click here to sign up.

• November 15th - Help make tie blankets for babies. We will meet in the gym from 8:15-9:30 pm.

• November 18th - Volunteer to help with Mary’s Helping Hands 5k charity run. Click here to see details and volunteer.

• February 10th - Volunteer to help with the Green Gala.

Registration for Confirmation prep opens July 1st.

Sessions begin September 13th. After registering, please fill out this questionnaire informing us who you would like to be in your son’s/daughter’s small group. Please also keep an eye out for any emails from the catechist of your small group as the small group sessions will be held offsite.
